Raising Funds to Help Children with Cancer
Hello everyone, I hope that your holidays went well and that you have been able to get out and ride now that it has cooled off.
The next Cody Ride will be held on Saturday March 14, 2015 and registration is open, so please send in your registration forms as soon as possible.
We have been asked by several people to change things up, so this year we are going to be doing a poker run. Also, we will be having the lunch and raffle at the campsite after everyone returns from the poker run. We are still working out the details and I will post them on the web page as soon as possible.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you in March and as always remember to tell everyone you know about the ride and bring them out with you.
Take care and we will talk soon.
I wanted to let everyone know that this year we will be having a live band perform at our ride. The band "Redneck Rodeo" out of Orange County will be performing Saturday night. This was made possible with the help of Paige, Cori & Tommy and Craig the owner of Think Ink Racing. Thank you all very much for making this happen. If you get a chance please visit Redneck Rodeo's Facebook page and catch one of their shows before Cody's Ride. Thanks for all your support. And I will see you on Saturday March 14.
For our 2014 ride, we had 267 riders participate and we raised about $24,000. That is the largest amount ever and the biggest group of riders we have ever had. This would not have been possible without all of you being part of our event.
I want you to know where your money is going to so here is a list of places we donated to in 2014.
The cost of the food at Jawbone was $3100, the Cody ride apperal was $2300, I donated $5000 to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, $800 each to Make-A-Wish and Comfort Zone Camp.
On April 5, I donated $1500 to an 8 year old boy from Riverside, that has Leukmia.
I purchased $2000 in video games, DVD's and gift cards for the kids at CHOC. I also purchased about $2000 worth of items for Miller's Chrildrens Hospital.
Jean (Cody's Mom) did a raffle for folks that did not attend Cody's Ride. She raised $5300 and I added $1200 to that and she sent a $6500 check to St. Judes Hospital.
In October, I donated about $700 worth of Halloween costumes to the kids at CHLA, $400 to a cancer walk and $500 to a family that lost their father to cancer.
Again, thank you to everyone who participated in our event. We are very thankful for the support and generosity of each and everyone of you.
Loyd (Cody's Dad).
